From the standpoint of doing research, Safari Queue is second to none and simple to operate. You enter your question and immediately are presented with numerous sources. Quickly look over the short reviews and either move them to a queue for more in depth investigation or, download a full publication. This program makes the sometimes laborious process of research fun, again... Even if I didnt require large quantities of data and support, this program provides anyone with a question the path to an answer, regardless of how shallow or deep one wishes to go.
There is plenty to read on the web, but using it as a platform for deep learning requires a great amount of effort to curate your list for quality and comprehensiveness on a topic. This service takes care of that for you, and the app experience is wonderful.
This app is a severe regression on the Safari Online app.
With the amount of money they charge per month, I was expecting a lot lot lot better app. The app usually takes me back by 2 chapters every time I come back and then I scroll all the way down. The fact that I am the second reviewer tells me that maybe the app is just a marketing tool and not many people use it anyway.
"Books" arent paginated—theyre just one big long scrolling view. So no page numbers; no indication at all how long the book is; good luck with bookmarks. This whole app is, in other words, nothing but a pathetic wrapper around a web view. Virtually unusable. A company trying to sell technical books using such a lazy and inept platform should be ashamed of itself.
After I spent days downloading content in the app, along comes an update that wiped everything out! Now I have to download everything from a scratch.
Isnt "offline access" the reason for this app. After selecting "read" to open or access a book, the app performs a download before opening the book. But the download is useless!! It is not accessible offline. Attempts to access a downloaded book after a tablet is offline results in the statement, "Internet access is needed." Isnt the entire reason for this app, for "offline access."
Love having Safari both on my iPhone and iPad, works beautifully on both.
App is slow, and page position isnt maintained if the app is rotated (orientation cant be locked) or the font is changed.
The search capabilities are very basic making it difficult to do a detailed filter. No option to search for audiobooks.
The app itself is great. Easy to search, see my queue and download. The page margins however are terribly narrow. There needs to be a way to adjust the margins like the browser does on their website. Reading gets harder on iPad Mini 4 with such narrow margins, should extend at least another 30px-45px on left and right.
The search is basic at minimum, but biggest feature missing for me is the percentage of completion of the book I am reading.
I dont get it why version after version they refuse to implement text highlight. When reading learning books this feature is cruelly missing. I have it on kindle and ibook apps..... Shouldnt be that hard to implement.
I love the selection of books and videos, which is both plentiful and high quality, but Ive bumped into plenty of bugs in the app. In this latest version, all downloaded books stopped working. Redownloading works, but is incredibly slow.
I usually never write reviews, but this app is incredible, they have some many books, i cant belive how they achieve that. I am reading some many books, this app make me addict for books. Congratulation for the owners you have done a very good work.
Safari Books is a really good and valuable service. They have everything a programmer would wish to learn about new topics. Unfortunately the new Queue app cannot live up to the promises of the service. It hangs when updating the queue (whats going on here in the background) and shows a wait symbol for indefinite time without informing the user. Annotations arent possible while reading and no way to organize items in the queue, items read, no bookmarks - in short, nothing what i would expect from an up to date application. I would fire the dev team entirely, because I am an unsatisfied customer and so will be many others. .
Its great to have a mobile app for the Library but this app(although its v1) lacks of many important features: No bookmarks, page counts, notes,... Even the worst ebook reader does have better features and a better design.
Hey guys, since the update cant see code images with nightmode turned on. (E.g. Programming in C book). Also, would be really nice to narrow margins while in portrait mode (vertical). Right now so much space is unused. Thank you very much safari team!
This application is a joke. It lacks nearly all features of the old Safari to go app. No bookmark, notes and you cant organize your books. Whoever designed and decided this should be fired. I wont prolong my subscription to your service!
